At NIU, we want to help you learn in the classroom, and we also want to provide you with skills and experiences to help you land the job you want and succeed in the workforce.
One important tool available to NIU students is the Huskie Career Launchpad. You can grow your skills and talents, then showcase this growth by earning digital badges to display on platforms like LinkedIn and discuss with future employers.
- Keep track of what you’re learning – whether it’s research, involvement, internships or other experiences.
- Get credit for attending career development events and working on your resume, cover letter and job-search skills.
- Build a portfolio with all your work that you can use while you’re at NIU and after you graduate. It’s a great way to show off your experience to future employers.
- Completing digital badges will give you access to exclusive career events, graduation cords and celebrations and more!
- Completing all eight digital badges earns you lifelong access to NIU Career Services resources, including career counseling.
“We encourage all students to take advantage of this service to help themselves stand out to employers, while learning skills and gaining valuable experience during their time as Huskies,” Andrea Radasanu, assistant vice provost for Student Enhancement said.
You can earn points toward badges by participating in activities – engaging with Career Services, attending campus events, joining clubs or organizations, or participating in athletics. Different activities have different point values.

Keep track of everything in Suitable, a digital badging app, to get activity points and credit toward your badges.
Download the Suitable iOS app or Android app or visit Suitable, then use your Z-ID@niu.edu email address to register and log in.
Visit the NIU website for details on the individual digital badges and more information about Huskie Career Launchpad.
