NIU celebrates new graduates during December commencement ceremonies

Nearly 700 undergraduate students and more than 400 graduate students participated in commencement ceremonies December 13 and December 14 at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, to the delight of their families, friends and supporters.

The commencement ceremonies featured videos with stories of graduating Huskies, plus the sounds of the talented NIU Steelband.

Prior to the commencement ceremonies, graduates also participated in Gradpalooza at the Holmes Student Center, where they had the opportunity to decorate caps, take photos with NIU mascots and leadership, and connect with the NIU Alumni Association.

“Congratulations to our newly graduated Huskies on this outstanding accomplishment,” Executive Vice President and Provost Laurie Elish-Piper said. “It is a true joy to participate in commencement each semester and see the Huskie Pride on display. We wish our new graduates the absolute best in their future endeavors and look forward to all they will accomplish.”

Thank you to NIU faculty members who attended these commencement ceremonies to show their support for graduating students.

Thank you to NIU staff members who gave their time to volunteer at commencement ceremonies. Staff volunteers helped make the ceremonies an enjoyable and memorable experience for those who attended by providing information, directions and smiles as well.
