Graduate students of all backgrounds representing 15 Illinois universities and three out-of-state universities, along with 30 faculty, staff and administrators from NIU and other universities attended the Preparing Future Faculty Conference in February.
“I am so full after this weekend! I gained valuable insights from the presentations, workshops and activities. Connecting with peers, staff and faculty was a highlight of the conference. I value these networking opportunities, as my doctoral program is online and I transitioned from working on a college campus,” said Chastinee McNeil, doctoral candidate at Governors State University.
“Thank you so much for such an awesome event! I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about faculty positions as well as networking with professors and peers across the various universities,” said Chavon Martin, graduate student at Adler University.

The Preparing Future Faculty Conference, held annually at NIU, brings together graduate students of all backgrounds from universities across the state.
Preparing future faculty is a national movement focused on transforming the way aspiring faculty are being prepared for their careers. Faculty presenters at the conference inform, encourage and inspire graduate students of all backgrounds to consider the professoriate as a career path.
