Rebekah Kohli earns scholarship for Institute for Academic Advising

Rebekah Kohli, an academic advisor for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will represent NIU at the 39th Annual Institute for Academic Advising after receiving the Wesley R. Habley Institute for Academic Advising Scholarship.

Hosted by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the Institute will take place July 21-26 in Syracuse, New York. This event provides advisors with a unique opportunity to develop a customized action plan based on needs at their respective institutions, while working with faculty members from the Institute and small groups of participants from similar institutional types.

The NACADA Global Awards Program for Academic Advising honors individuals and institutions making a significant impact on academic advising. NACADA is a professional organization that represents and advocates for academic advising and those providing that service to higher education. The Wesley R. Habley scholarships provide a valuable professional development experience for select individuals, including Kohli at this summer’s event.

“I am grateful to have received this scholarship, as well as the support from vice provost Alicia Schatteman, CLAS dean Robert Brinkmann and CLAS advising director Steven Estes, which will allow me to attend the NACADA Summer Institute for Academic Advising! I look forward to attending the Institute in July and then sharing what I learn about better supporting our students with the NIU academic advising community,” Kohli said.
