For my entire journey Dr. Shibata has been essential to my success. Beginning as my advisor, he set in motion a long term plan that has enabled me to earn a 4.0 in the MPH program. His instruction in my environmental health class continued this amazing trend, where he provided a unique learning experience that could be tailored to each individual student’s areas of interest.
When in search later of an elective for my program, he spent one semester in an independent study with me where we developed a survey that seeks to improve first responder mental health.
Finally, this past summer Dr. Shibata spent many hours helping to plan, attend video conferences, and meet in person to set up my internship. Without his guidance and passion for public health and first responder health I would never been able to get an opportunity at an internship where I will be providing real world assistance to a firefighter organization. Dr. Shibata is a wonderful, knowledgeable and dedicated instructor that wants all of his students to succeed and to better public health overall.
